Glengarry and the First World War

Presentation #3 – The CEF in the Trenches

Speaker – Robin Flockton

The Canadian Expeditionary Force had barely four months of training in

England, in awful winter weather.  Their boots were inadequate and their

equipment failed. The Canadians could not wait to get to France!

Meanwhile, back home, the Second Division was preparing to leave for

England, as steady stream of volunteers answered the Minister’s call.

How was Canada’s industry able to cope with supplying an army and

converting to a wartime economy?
